MISSIONS UPDATE
Providence members have worked with the Catholic Church agency to assist with the assimilation of a family from Myanmar into the Charlotte Community. The family of four arrived on June 26. PBC members provided furnishings for the apartment and clothes for the family of four. A special team is working with the family to provide food and transportation to ESL classes.
This summer is a time when a number of different missions trips will be made. A report will be made to the congregation on a Wednesday evening in August. The exact date will be published soon. The 2008 mission trips include::
The 4th annual "Book Buddies" trip to eastern Kentucky worked with the elementary school in a summer learning program in the morning and our volunteers delivered over 2,000 books to homes during the afternoon hours.
The College Mission Trip was to Toronto, Canada to work with an inner-city homeless shelter.
The Middle School Mission Trip was to Washington, DC. to work with the DOOR organization.
The High School Mission Trip was to Asheville, NC to repair and build with a homeless shelter .
The 4th annual Family Mission Trip to Eastern Kentucky in July will provide varied activites for teenagers of Owsley County.
THANK YOU for your prayers and financial support for these groups.
We are looking forward to the completion of our Missions Center - a building dedicated to missions in Charlotte specifically, but with a global emphasis as well. The Missions Center will accommodate our current involvement in Room In The Inn and Family Promise. We are looking forward to God's leading us into new mission ventures because of our facility.

MISSION INVOLVEMENT AT PROVIDENCE: From its beginning as a church, Providence has been extensively involved in missions. Through the years, this involvement has been expanded to include a range of activities from Monthly Collection Projects to Mission Trips to other continents.
Listed below is a sampling of the missions activities throughout the year. Providence supports additional mission endeavors in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area with financial aid and personal involvement.
Missions projects in other counties, states, and countries occur as various times through the year depending on the requests for assistance and the availability of volunteers.
